Design Principles

#1 Focus on insights, not only data

Even though we are a data company – providing our customers with social data so they can make decisions – we must go beyond that. We must look for opportunities to bubble up insights wherever we can to make our customers’ jobs easier.

#2 Focus on experience, not only features

Even though we need to check most of the boxes on the customers' solution requirement list, we must find our focus and say “no” to features that don’t align with our vision. People remember good experiences, not features. Great user experience goes a long way.

#3 Focus on learning, not only shipping

Even though we have a big and ambitious roadmap, we must stop and evaluate what we learned from each release. Even better, if we decide beforehand about what we want to learn from a release. We should celebrate outcomes, not outputs.

#4 Focus on problems, not only feedback

Even though we eagerly crave feedback on our products, features, and user experience, but we should not stop there. For every piece of feedback or feature request, we must try to learn more and understand the underlying problems by asking the right questions.
